At the end of it he turned to my chachu and said, "I m surprised rather shock to know that being from a jat family she speaks so well and fluent english !!" My chachu was immensely happy.

Must have been once with you but happens so often with me......

Yesterday itself i was having dinner with a couple of journalists, they over the talks asked if i happened to be a punjabi(which a majority of people ask, dont know y:mad:)...Then i told them that i am a jat... next reaction was Ohhhh:eek::eek: you dont seem to be one, i mean they are rough:eek:

In 12th standard, we were a bunch of jats in our class and my match teacher always used to call us as Jats, one of my frnd was Dhaka and he used to call him Dhaka only but that gentleman, inspite of being a Tyagi had immense respect for Jats which he used to share with class often....

he used to praise jats and say this is the most martial comm. on the face of earth and it used to fill us with so much of pride....

Even now, whenever someone meets and greet me, no one ever ever could guess if i am a jat(Surely i am not happy about it, but nor am i sad, at last i am not thought to be anything other than human :) )

A good postmortem is already done ... here I am also to cut few more pieces if any left... :)

Well Sumit... What you are today, n this whole new generation which is well educated n well placed; they do not feel ashamed of being Jats,,, speaking Haryanvi... we are coming up with accepting the fact that if all other regional languages are spoken by their people without any hesitation,,, why we shud be ashamed of our Haryanvi. And with the education that change is also coming that our tone n pitch aren't that rustic n harsh even when we speak haryanvi now....
But there was a time when jats starting upcoming... straight from tht rural envt, to this so called modern class... they tried to overcome that gap by totally disconnecting from their roots....of which they somehow feel ashamed to match the elite class. And the kind of guy yu encounterd at the cineplex is going thru this transitional phase... not so proud of his identity of being a jat.

and what other communities think or used to think of jats... i feel they were also not very wrong in their misperceptions.... even today if you encounter the college goers of haryana.. by majority of jats you will feel let down.

Many replies here that the security gaurd was doing his duty... of course he was, so one shud not feel offended by it....... but the point missed n perhaps which yu wanted to highlight is why that special search with yu guys.... just becus yu were speaking in haryanvi... which he found suspicious out of his own complex.... Those who are saying even if so.. one shud nt object as it was his duty.... No it was nt random.... it was as yu mentioned only fr yu guys out of the whole crowd. If it wud ve been done by some other community person.. it wud ve been taken as they find jats suspicious... but now by someone of our own community... then simply as yu said.

Anyway... People have this kinda complexes.... not in one case... you ll find many...even in educated, well set jats yu can find this kinda complex. so not to worry n bother over it much.... this community is made of complexes.... havent yu heard n experienced...jat jat ka kaam nahin karega.... they ve this complex ki kahin ye mere se aage na chala jae.... baaki sab kaum apni kaum ko upar uthane ki sochti hain, siwaye jaton ke......wish we ll be able to overcome it completely someday.

Ohhh I also wrote a long speech.....;)

Apart from that, one must understand the training these security men are given? Usually, any one who wants to sneak in, through the security is likely to act very friendly to the security person. By, the young group of people trying to be friendly with the security man may have given rise to his suspicion. Further, on an average most terrorists are younger in age rather than older. So, there is enough circumstantial evidence for the Security Man to be suspicious about the group.

i was also born nd brought up in delhi, as such i m very much conversed with the delhi/jat culture. having said so nd giving my answer a personal touch, i wud confess to say tht i might wud hv behaved in vry much the same way...

while admitting my behaviour on wud be similar incidence...neelamji, pls. hv a luk at the views of col. tawathia frm his perspective wch definitely conveys a valid reason...guess this might give u an answer. this may not b true to this particular incidence, but the possibility does exists.

yups it is.

When George Fernandes went to USA as Defence Minister of India, he was strip searched at the US airport. Government of India did not make any issue out of it because it was their policy at that time. If you will make it an issue then my friend then you will face many such issues from time to time in your lifetime.

Is this really such a big issue???

yups it is.

Us security wale ka kaam tha search karne ka, or usne apna kaam imaandari se kiya, without taking into consideration that u speak haryanvi. That is really commendable. Now whether it has caused you some emotional trauma or not, it is not what he is trained to consider. So, better to come terms to it. With the kind of unsecurity we have around us, we should infact encourage such attentiveness on part of security men. After all it is all in our own benefit. What if you are in same cinema theatre and some other haryanvi speaking group have befriended the same security person and sneaked in something harmful. Would you then pardon the same security person for the lapse on his part???? I know jat ego is very big and perhaps that is the reason why you ended up posting this thread.:boxing

We are Missing the Issue Once Again!

Dear Members,

Like many other posts on this website, we are once again missing the point.

As I understood, the point raised by the author of this thread was " he was pained that a person fully knowing that he and his friends were from Haryana/speaking haryanvi language, searched only their wallet", This group felt that the security man being from "Jat" community and "Haryana" did not expect these people to be educated and thus searched them while he let others who spoke in English or any other language go.

What we are finally discussing here is "Love of people for Haryanvi Language" whether or not they have conncetion with their native village, and even rediculing people who can't speak good Haryanvi.

Let me give my two cents here once again:

1. The most difficult task a person does is to make a decision. It is purely because of this reason, the decision makers are paid better than others.

2. How do we make decision? What goes on in decision making? and by the way "Who makes a wrong decision knowingly"?

3. The decision is arrived after consideing certain factors pertinent to the situation.

4. There are two type of information that a person can consider, while evaluating a factor: "One" Known information (it comes from the training one gets, that is what we teach in training in various professions), and "Two" Revealed information: (that is what the decision maker actually sees at the point of incident)

5. To make a decision whether or not he/she should act for or against, at the place of incident, he/she tries to match the "known information with the revealed information".

Let us grant to the security man, that he took his decision based on the training he received, the comparision he made between the known information and the revealed information, and off course to his judgement that he arrived at after analyzing the various factors.

I think the author of the thread, has also come to this decision that probably, the security man did not respect his own people, based on the similar analysis.

To me the security man was on duty. He did his duty to the best of his ability and to which he needs to be commended. While we are in such a position (and let me tell you I have had enough experience of this subject) where the one and all search may be time consuming and detrimental to the entire process's success, and a selective search is to be done, making a judgment as to whom to search and whom not to search is an extremely difficult task.

In this situation, if you delay the proceedings un-necessarily, you are considered inefficient, and if you have a lapse in security, you are considered incompetent, that is the dilema a person has to handle.

So, kindly be respectful to the security man and his actions. Probably many of us in his situation might have (some people are not very happy with these word though) done the same thing. It has nothing to do with "insult to a particual language or culture".

And once again, please concentrate on the issue and don't digress.

Good Luck.

But had India wanted, just like a few here, had given it a tag of racism against Indians and just Indians and made a big issue out of it... But chose to keep quite because we respect rules and follow them

Hence, this is quite relevant

i reckon this to be the joke of the day...:p

going a bit off frm the subject, delhi traffic is one of the classic example of how much we respect rules nd follow them.
hv u ever seen the behaviour nd the language used by the so called "beholders of our democracy" in the parliament.

This happened bcos neither george fernandes nor the leader of NDA is a jat.Nothing is more imp. than self-respect.Hope u people have got my point.

all respected members

I believe inspite making these imp. issues known to the respected educated members, i should go and bring things together for the uneducated masses in villages.

Some of the members got to the point which i wanted to highlight and discuss. All others kept talking about securityman's duty.Salute to u all and the security man.

Securityman is just an example of the people's attitude.Issues were something else.If some of the members dont want to come to realities and be happy with fake prestige.....i m sorry i raised some genuine issues at a wrong place.

thats y i said inspite of wasting my time in educated people and making them realise abt the problem,I must spend more time with uneducated masses. That will bring more utility for both.........for my intentions and the community upliftment.

Thnax again.

Not a bad argument though , at least he is being moving towards an egalitarian society.

Meanwhile you will not find a better Haryanvi teacher than Sumit himself and i am sure he will be happy to help you!:)

Thanks dear for providing a better option but i can find the best as per my choice....mere saare bhai behan nahin sikha paaye to ye ek aur bhai bhi iss koshish mein nakamyab ho sakta hai...no surety about that :)

Dear Sumit,

There would be numerous occassions in your life when the argument would not go to your expected results. The profession that you are in, you would have it more than any other profession, for argument will be your bread and butter.

The problem is neither the security man nor your the discussion. You expceted all members to "agree" with your views without any discussion or argument. That does not happen in real life.

You have made some big statements about many members on the forum. Whether they are living in a fools paradise or have much more experience than you is just the matter of perception.

Remember you can only conrol your own activities. Good thing to know that you are going to work for the community, that is a very noble cause.

Your intention to work with the uneducated masses as against educated people is well understood, for they might be easy to get a "YES" from.
Since you are going to be an attorney, it might just be a good idea to solve people's problem or help them fight their legal cases better.
