Those of you familiar with the concept of al Taqiyya in the
Qur'an, as also the conduct of Muhammad during and between his wars
against the Banu Quraish tribe and the Jews of Mecca, would know that
Islam explicitly condones hiding one's true intentions and loyalties,
lying, deception, treachery and making false peace treaties with enemies
to be able to regroup before waging war again, as long as the goal is
to further the cause of Islam. These tactics have been practiced by
almost all successful Islamic invaders and conquerors through the ages.
For example, remember what happened when Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Ghori first invaded north India in
1191 A.D. The then ruler of Delhi (and modern day Rajasthan, Punjab,
Haryana, MP and UP) Prithviraj Chauhan easily defeated Ghori in the first
battle of Tarain. Ghori asked for forgiveness, and the liberal Chauhan
was only too willing to give it. (Note that this was the post-Gupta
empire "golden age" period of India and we were an extremely liberal,
relaxed and tolerant Hindu society; this is the same era and society
that built the Khajuraho temples after all. It is only natural that
"Aman ki Asha"-type bleeding-heart peaceniks must have been dominant in
those times as well.) However, only a year later -- as usual, as
expected and as is typical of modern day Pakistan also -- Ghori broke
the peace. He had used the intervening year to regroup his war
apparatus and rebuild an even larger Islamic army to invade India. This
time he won the second battle of Tarain in 1192 A.D., and
promptly proceeded to execute Chauhan, his wife and children, their
extended families, the entire class of noblemen, warriors and
priests/intellectuals in Delhi (I'm sure the peaceniks who forgave his
life a year earlier must not have been spared either), and then went on
to sack and loot Delhi. A genocide followed, and after installing his
slave-cum-general Qutb-ud-din Aibak on the throne (who founded the first
Slave dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate), Ghori returned to his capital
Ghazni with a few hundred elephant-loads of gold, gemstones and slaves
from India. This incident (and the blunder of forgiving Ghori and his barbaric invading army in 1191
A.D.) was to be the turning point that was to condemn the fate of India
and Indians (politically, socially and economically) for the next 800 years.
Pakistan is essentially playing the same game today. And instead of
following Chanakya's intelligent and firm iron-fisted approach towards
security and foreign policy, today India is repeating the flawed
over-liberal policies (of being foolishly friendly with an untrustworthy
enemy) that became the doom of India in the 12th century A.D.

Did you write that yourself or is that a copy paste?

yaha jatland pur aise bahut se member hai jo insaniyat ki baat bahut karte hai....n kuch aise log bhi hai jo india pakistan ke bhaichaare ki baat karte hai....ye jo incident hua hai ye un logo ke muh pur zor ka thapad hai....n un logo ke muh pur bhi jo gandhi ke chele hai.....india mai peace tabhi ho sakti hai jab india saara pakistan khatam kar de n india mai unke supporters bhi....but aisa kabhi koi congress ka neta nahi kar sakta coz nehru n gandhi family khud mullo ki family hai....sabse pehle to iss gandhi family ko khatam karoo...n kissi shaheed bhagat ke follower ko desh ki kaaman do tabhi iss desh ka kuch bhala ho sakta hai....yee mullee kissi ke bharose ke layak nahi hote....india apna air space block kar de pakistan ke liye n unse trade bhi baand kar de.....kisssi ghatia sarkar hai hamari ki jab weapons haath mai hote hue bhi unka use nahi kar sakte......bhejo iss digvijay singh sonia rahul kapil sibbal and chidambaram ko border pur....tab in haramiyoo ko pata chalega ki jawaan kaise desh ki surakshaa karte hai.......

Zahir hai itna sab hone ke baad, aur saha nahi jata aur aar paar ki ladai ho jaye to behtar lagta hai.

But we have to think if we have the capability - economic, military and political - to carry out a full fledged war with Pakistan. In my opinion, we don't. Lets evaluate each of these factors -

Economy - Needless to say our economy isn't like the US' which is impervious to countless wars across the globe. Our economy still isn't strong enough to be unaffected by a war at our borders. During the last war we fought in Kargil, the govt. had to impose a Kargil Cess to deal with extra financial burden of fighting a war. And this when the conflict was restricted to a certain area and wasnt a full fledged war. So the financial cost for fighting a full fledged war that could potentially stretch for months is unmanageable.
Second, our economy is still very FDI/FII dependent. And these foreign investors take flight at the first sign of trouble. The moment they see a war on the horizon, India would be deemed unstable, investments will be cut, ratings will be downgraded and capital will take flight. As a result, job creation will spiral.

Military - I know there are more knowledgeable military folks on JL and I would love to hear their opinion. But as I see it, there's no certain way India can win a quick and decisive war against Pakistan. I say quick and decisive, because any war that drags longer tends to end in a stalemate as UN and international pressure builds up, costs and casualties mount and morale declines. Case in point - 1965 dragged for far too long with both parties gaining land in different areas of the conflict. As a result the 1965 war is more of a draw than a victory as projected by Indian history. At the opposite end, the 1971 war is the best example of a quick and decisive war. Even though it took months if not years of prep, to ensure a victory in a matter of weeks.

The hard truth is that the gap between India and Pakistan's military strength isn't too huge to wage a winnable quick war with Pakistan. We do beat them at numbers of military personnel, but as previous wars have shown, many times numerical advantage hasn't been successful on ground.

Political - This is possibly the hardest to explain but we are not an overtly aggressive nation as say Israel and US. As much as many of us wish it to be in times like these, India doesn't follow a tit for tat approach. Our political masters, regardless of their affiliations, are trained to make compromises to avoid taking hard decisions. They buckle under pressure so many times in their careers that they are loath to take any risk. Eg. Indira in Shimla, 1972 and NDA in Kandahar hijack crisis. The former in a rare magnanimous and gullible mood believed Zardari's pledge of future friendship and returned 90000 Pak military personnel without an inch of India's rightful land in PoK in return. At the same time, the NDA caved in to pressure by relatives of hijacked passengers and turned free dreaded terrorists for the exchange of passengers. One of these terrorists was Maulana Masood Azhar, the founder of Jaish-e-Mohammed.

So what is the solution? As Woodrow Wilson said, Speak softly and carry a big stick. We must continue to build our military strength but at the same time avoid an armed conflict. When so many factors debilitate us, its necessary to build covert strength and carry out operations in secret. This will allow us to hit back when required without the blatant show of force alarming anyone. Many experts point out that conflicts like the one witnessed aren't new and low level, covert conflicts continue to happen from both sides at the LoC. This covert capability must be expanded to carry out surgical strikes and operations with minimal fuss.

Yes dear, some really good points you have made. Also other angle to look is that since US is pulling troops from Afganistan, the whole Pak-Afgghanistan region might destabilize. Pakistan will be more affected by all this. If India-Pak engage in a war, Pak may be able to turn the attention of Taliban towards India. So dear, we don;t know the conspiracy behind Pak's army barbarous attacks and cruelty on Indian soldiers.

Economy - Needless to say our economy isn't like the US' which is impervious to countless wars across the globe.

Further on that note it is in US's business community favor if a war is raged as most of the arms suppliers are key influences in US govt decision making. If you look at events closely, a war has always preceded or came after a recession(WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Recent one) and that is nothing but ways to make rich people more rich.

Yes, their economy feeds off wars in many ways.

I am wondering where are those candle lighters on India Gate now.

-----

Martyred soldier Lance Naik Hemraj's family along with several people of his village Shernagar in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, are sitting on hunger strike and demanding the assassinated soldier's head to be brought back from the Pakistani troops.
The Army had confirmed on Wednesday that two of its soldiers were first shot dead by Pakistani troops and then beheaded, and that the head of one of the soldiers had not been found.
The inhuman and barbaric act of mutilation and violation of ceasefire has erupted tension across the border.
India had summoned the Pakistani High Commissioner Salman Bashir to lodge its protest over the killing. Political parties, mainly the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have called for tough action against Pakistan.

---

How a nation shall and would and should answer to this family and this question of bringing the head back? Head means head!

I feel, Pak is suffering from internal various problems/terrorism and expecting a serious problem from talibanies and to give some work to her armed forces, she is doing this and we have given opportunity by killing their officer(bases of info programm of karan thapper). We know that war is not good but if one wants to avoide war he/she must be ready for war, Offensive defence is good defence, some brothers said that if we take physical action our initiative of peace will be lost, it was our initiative not of pak, beside talking, what pak is doing we all know, so my personal openion is that we must teach a serious lession to pak, in all possible ways ei war, political/diplomatic/economical fronts so that pak takes initiative of peace talks and accept the out come of talk easily.but our govt seems to be uncomfortable to take decision in favour of war because of a very low morale of our troops due to total neglect/injustice/ill treatment to armed forces by the govt and the society, unstable position of the govt and lack of will power of our rulers, I also doubt whether our forces are ready for war at this stage.

My Dear Sir;

As both countries are nuclear armed, I do not think full fledged war is a solution. I also smell a rat that Pak is trying to shift the focus towards India. Right now Pak is struggling internally and focusing shift towards India may help them to take all the negative powers towards India. Gen Kayani who was ISI head is now Pak army chief and his term will be over after 6 months or so. Also General Elections are nearby; it would be a good time for Pak Army to streghten its grip over struggling govt. Hafij Saeed might be looking to take the advantage of this situation and liasing with Gen Kayani to violate ceasefire and provoke India to take some action so that focus shift towards India. You may say Ithat ndia is a soft country but currently its not the right time to engage in war as US is pulling out its troops from Afganistan and Taliban focus will be more in Pakistan. Pak may try to shift that focus towards India if India engage in a war.

Cheers

Narendra Modi govt asks Pakistani delegation to leave Vibrant Gujarat Summit

Narendra Modi govt asks Pakistani delegation to leave Vibrant Gujarat Summit after tension escalates along LoC
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has done what the Centre 's failed to do. Modi has politely asked the Pakistani delegation at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit to leave in view of the escalating tension along the Line of Control .

According to reports, the 22-member delegation was asked by the Modi government to leave the Summit owing to the friction at the border. The delegation left Gujarat by Friday evening. The Gujarat government, however, has refused to comment on the matter.

Sources say the delegation's presence at the event would have caused embarrassment to the BJP's leadership that has taken a strong position against the Centre's response to the LoC ceasefire violation.

The 22-member delegation from the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which was expected to attend the inaugural session of the Vibrant Gujarat summit on Friday, was asked to stay indoors in a plush hotel in Ahmedabad.

Some members of the delegation reportedly wanted to visit Surat and Bharuch. They were escorted to Surat from where they left for Mumbai. They were even not allowed some sight-seeing in Ahmedabad.

After his Sadbhavana fasts, Gujarat Chief Minsiter had asked the UPA government in late September 2011, to ease visa rules for Pakistani tourists eager to visit Ajmer Sharif shrine while addressing the Indian Association of Tour Operators in Gandhinagar.
