RIDDLES -- Dimag ki batti jalao

sanjeev ji mehnat to kafi ki hai aapne..answer bhi mil gya aapko...third column mai 9 ki jagah 1 hona chahiye...mai to kisi bhi ques mai itni mehnat nahi karta.... n e way good job...
in my post i wrotr 10(for 50 to 59). it is only for first digit..
type karne mai mistake ho gayi mere se..

Tomar bhai I tried to find out the pattern / series and used Excel, it was very much with pattern and it took me 15 to 20 mints on Excel. i found that nos of zeros r different and these r multiple of 9 from previous set of tens. ( u see no zero up 9 is 1, than no of zeros from 10 to 99 is 9(1x9), than 100 to 999 is 180(20x9) and so on. other digits r equal in any set. any way good one

Q: If 1 cigarette leaves 1 butt & 5 butts make a new cigarette then how many cigarettes can be made out of 121 butts?
A: 30! Its quite simple as 120 butts will make 24 cigarettes that would leave us with 24 butts which will combine with 1 butt left to make 5 more cigarettes which in turn will yield 1 more cigarette making a total of 30!

Now.. If the question be..

Find the LEAST no. of butts required to make 30 cigarettes if 1 cigarette leaves back 1 butt & 5 butts make 1 new cigarette?!
How to solve this??

Find the LEAST no. of butts required to make 30 cigarettes if 1 cigarette leaves back 1 butt & 5 butts make 1 new cigarette?!
How to solve this??

Hmm, we could apply arithmetic progression here. To make a cigarette, 5 butts are required. So the first term can be a1=5.

Now, one cigarette leaves 1 butt, and 4 butts are added to it to make a complete cigarette. So the common difference, d=4.

Now, a1=5; d=4
2nd term, a2= a1 +4
....
Nth term, an = a(n-1) + 4

So, a30 = a29 + 4

I forgot the exact formula, but we could proceed like this to get the solution:-
a1= 5
a2 = a1 +4= 5 + 4 = 9
a3 = a2 +4= (a1 + 4) +4 = 5 + 8 =13
a4=a3+4=(a2 +4) +4 = (a1+4) +4 + 4 = 17
.....................................................
Solving this recursively, we can get a30 = 121

devendra ji...u wrote a lot..But all mathematical operations are valid for 0... When we multiply something by 0 then result is 0....similarly when divided by 0 then result is infinite...
In 0/0, the 0 in numerator wants to make expression 0 while the 0 in denominator wants to make infinite...so a fight goes on between the two 0....because both have the same capacity so result is undefined....

I hope, it is not tough to unterstaned this.....

Tomar bhai, is it defined. (red one)

Correct Neetu and explained in detail

Itna math to mene bhi nahi padha par sanjeev ji itna janta hu ki jab kisi number ko 0 se divide kiya jata hai to infinite hi hota hai...use indeterminate ya undefined nahi kahte..
Ex.. number of stars in sky is infinite but not undefined..
Tomar bhai, is it defined. (red one)

Tomar bhai, division by exactly zero is undefined. The operation has no meaning
1/0 or 1/infinite dont exist. considering 1/0 = infinite and 1/infinite =zero, are wrong

try it......

A school has a strange principal. On the first day, he has his students perform an odd opening day ceremony.
There are one thousand lockers and one thousand students in the school. The principal asks the first student to go to every locker and open it. Then he has the second student go to every second locker and close it. The third goes to every third locker and, if it is closed, he opens it, and if it is open, he closes it. The fourth student does this to every fourth locker, and so on.
After the process is completed with the thousandth student, how many lockers are open?

one more

There is a cook in a restaurant in a quaint country where clocks are outlawed. he has a four minute hourglass, a seven minute hourglass, and a pot of boiling water. A regular customer orders a nine-minute egg, and you know this person to be extremely picky and will not like it if you overcook or undercook the egg, even by a few seconds.how will he do it?

Similar puzzle posted before:D...A brief solution:- All the doors with perfect square numbers remained opened!

(i) Flip both hourglasses and put the egg in water.
(ii) 4 minute hourglass runs out, flip it over again immediately. => 4 mins
(iii) 7 minute hourglass runs out, flip it over immediately. => 7 mins
(iv) After a minute, 4 minute hourglass runs out, now flip the 7 minute hourglass. => 8 mins
At this point, the 7 minute hourglass had run only for a minute, so after it is flipped over again in step (iv), it will run only for 1 minute. So => 9 minutes.

There are three boxes. One is labeled "APPLES" another is labeled "ORANGES". The last one is labeled "APPLES AND ORANGES". You know that each is labeled incorrectly. You may asked to pick one fruit from one box which you choose.

How can you label the boxes correctly?

think it......

A wily young man wishes to marry the princess Arlena. Unfortunately, her father, the Sultan, is opposed to the marriage and is willing to buy the young man off. The Sultan, therefore makes the young man the following offer--"You get to make one statement.
If the statement is false, you will be put to death and receive none of the following three things.

If the statement is true, you may have one of the following three things, but I get to choose!
The three things are:
(1) Arlena's hand in marriage;
(2) A cup filled with extremely valuable diamonds;
(3) A magic lamp with a genie (who, unfortunately, cannot do marriages)."

The wily young man, however, is too wily for his future father-in-law. He makes a statement such that the only way the Sultan can keep his promise is by giving the young man Arlena's hand in marriage.

Pick the fruit from the box labeled as "Apples and Oranges". This would be either Apple OR Orange. For e.g., E.g. if you find an Apple, label the box Apple, then change the Apples box to Oranges, and the Oranges box to "Apples & Oranges".

very good Neetu ji.....

Pirates

Five pirates have obtained 100 gold coins and have to divide up the loot. The pirates are all extremely intelligent, treacherous and selfish (especially the captain).

The captain always proposes a distribution of the loot. All pirates vote on the proposal, and if half the crew or more go "Aye", the loot is divided as proposed, as no pirate would be willing to take on the captain without superior force on their side.

If the captain fails to obtain support of at least half his crew (which includes himself), he faces a mutiny, and all pirates will turn against him and make him walk the plank. The pirates start over again with the next senior pirate as captain.

What is the maximum number of coins the captain can keep without risking his life?
