RIDDLES -- Dimag ki batti jalao

There are five friends. Josh says his birthdate is 31st December 1878. Rick says his birthdate is 14th November 1902, Derik says his birthdate is 12th July 1898, Usha says her birthdate is 29th February 1900, and Mike says his birthdate is 15th May 1904. In which year,will the sum of their ages be equal to a prime number between 175 and 240?

Pls Don't use any search engine, try to solve by yourself only Its a easy one :)

Is there a trick because of diff. dates? I solved it like this ignoring the dates and just looking at years. Let youngest guy be x. The others are then x+26, x+2, x+6 and x+4. Sum of ages is 5x+38. This needs to be between 175 and 240. You need to start from x=29. Ane even x would give an even no. so ignore those. You'll get sums 193, 223 and 233 for x=31, x=37 and x=39. So either there are 3 solutions or you need to take into account the ages by looking at dates. That would involved going to each person's birthdate and setting up an equation at that point of time. I tried for the youngest guy, equation was 5x+35 which can never be prime. Probably, that's the way, go to each guy and set up an equation and all but one might give a unique solution. But I couldn't be least bothered to try that :)

Nishant it seems that 29th Feb. does not exist in year 1900 which is Usha's birthday.1900 is not a Leap year.

Well, if I take 3 solutions obtained above, it would be 1935, 1941 and 1943.

दिमाग की बत्ती नहीं चासी ........ तेने "दिमाग की दही" कर दी सब की निशान्ते ...... शरारती बालक किते का...

hahahaha bhai joke nahe its a lesson we should check the question first mai bhi 2 din ghaana peresahn raaha jo answer nikalun tha woh hee galat :p

And the winner is...

It's a two-men contest between Motu and Chotu who race each other in a 100 m dash. Motu wins by 10 m i.e. by the time chotu reach the finishing line,Motu had covered the distance of 10 m. they decided to race again. To give chotu a fair deal, Motu this time begin 10 m behind the starting line. Assumin they both run with same constant speed as before, Who win this time? Or do they tie?

P.S. If this riddle is posted before, please ignore!

In the first race Motu and Chotu both have to covered 100m for winning the race and Motu wins the race by 10m that means both takes the same time in covering the 110m and 100m distance respectively.
in the second race motu has to covered 110m while chotu has to covered 100m for winning the race. but they run with the same speed as before so that result of race will be tie.

Motu will win the race again. By the time chotu will reach 90m motu will come level to chotu. Though motu is faster than chotu and 10m still to go so motu will win the race.

This is not possible according to your ques....
If your ques is correct then race will tie...
your answer is correct only if u modify your ques..think about the sentense after i.e.

Motu wins by 10 m i.e. by the time chotu reach the finishing line,Motu had covered the distance of 10 m.

Let x, y, z are the ages (in days) of grandson, son and 'me':

then x/7 =y;
and x/30 = z/365;
and x+y+z =120*365;
=> x+7x+365x/30 = 120*365.

(240+365)*x= 120*365*30;

=> x = 2117.9 days.

so 'meri' umar = 2117.9*365/30 days
= 26424.8 days.
= 72.39 days
~ 72 years. (round off)
As we have assumed 30 days in a month and 365 days in a year which is not always true!!

A quick check: pote ki umar= 2117.9 ~ 6 years.
bete ki umar= 42 years = 7* 6 (pote ki umar)
dada ki umar = 72 years = 12*6 (pote ki umar)
Total= 6+42+72= 120 yrs.

Done.

Sunil bhai, you make it sound comlicated.......let;s make it easy:
Let GS age = x
then his father's age = 7x (week and days)
then GP age = 12x (month and year)
now x + 7x + 12x = 120
20x = 120 years
x = 6 years

Pota = 6 saal
Baap = 42 (6x7) saal
Dada = 72 (12x6) saal
