The famous Jat people

Jaat Bhaiyo Ram Ram,

I am new to this site and it is really an appreciable effort by u all, our great community needs to be brought together and we must work hand in hand for our development. I am in the army and I have observed that we lack the attitude of helping each other which is prominent in communities like sikhs and bengalis.

Most important is that many of us consider talking in haryanvi/ jat lingo as a sign of illetracy or backwardness which needs to be changed. We must talk in our language that may be haryanvi/ rajasthani/ or the UP dialects and must motivate our children to do the same, our ladies who are mothers can contribute a lot towards this aspect by teaching this to our kids. We must talk in our language atleast within our home and our society.

A great site and i will continue contributing here, we are so many in army however hardly anyone knows aout this site very soon u will find more Jats on this site.

Always say with pride I am JAT

Former Prime Minister and Presently chairman
of ruling party Pakistan Muslim League - Cahudhary Sujjat Hussain
Former president of pakistan -Rafiq Tarar.

are jats.List of famous jats in pak is large. Presently jats are supposed to be politically most powerful people in
Pakistan.

I visited pakistan for 15 days in December and interacted with a lot of jats there. As in India, Jats in Pakistan are also very proud of their jat identity. Infact they were very happy to meet me and enquired a lot about jats in India.

Hi gaurav

Lucky to meet fellow jats.

Are you sure Harkishan Singh Surjeet ,a jat ?

He doesn't look like one.

There is a site called jattworld. There is a big list of jat icons on that site. His name was there. But even i was amazed to know that. Plz confirm from elsewhere also.

List goes on

Mr K.P. Singh, chairman of DLF, india's largest construction company is a jat.
He was ranked as 5th richest indian in last forbes issue. Now his net worth has increased. presently he is highest net worth individual in india! just wait for next forbes issue.

One more

I dont know whether this name has appeared earlier or not

Zorawar Singh, the Senapati of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

This was the person who launched three expeditions to Leh and Laddakh area, at that time and through the most difficult terrain. On the map of Kashmir, just draw a line from Doda to Leh and you will know how superhuman were the feet. Had it not been for this small detail of our history, Chinese would have been claiming Leh as well.

Kushal Pal Singh

Kushal Pal Singh or KP Singh is the second among the top ten richest Indians according to the latest London ‘Sunday Times’ rich list. He has an estimated wealth of about Rs 100,000/- crores. He is the Chairman of Delhi Land and Finance Ltd (DLF) Co.

He was born in a Hindu Jat Zamindar family in Bulandshahr of Uttar Pradesh, India.

The story of success of KP Singh is very interesting. He was officer in Indian army but left his job in 1960 and joined ‘American Universal Electric Company’, a joint undertaking of his family. After sometime he established a company for manufacture of industrial batteries – ‘Villard India’. In 1961 he joined the Company DLF, founded in 1946 by his father-in-law Chaudhary Raghavendra Singh. This company has built 21 townships in south Delhi.

Jujhar Singh Nehra

Jujhar Singh Nehra (1664 – 1730) or Jhunjha was a Jat chieftain of Rajasthan in India who gave name to the Jhunjhunu town situated in Rajasthan. He was born in a Hindu Jat family of Nehra gotra in samvat 1721 (1664 AD). His father was a faujdar of Nawabs.

Jujhar Singh when became young was made the general of the army of Nawabs. He had a dream to establish Jat rule in India. He was planning to have a joint rebellion against the Muslim rule in India. He had heard the stories of rebellion by Jats of Bharatpur such as Gokula and Raja Ram. Meanwhile he came in contact with one Rajput Shardul Singh, who was an employee of the Nawabs. The Jats through Jujhar Singh and Rajputs through Sardul Singh agreed upon a proposal to fight united against Muslim rulers and if the Nawab were defeated Jujhar Singh would be appointed the Chieftain.

Jujhar Singh one day found the right opportunity and attacked Nawabs at Jhunjhunu and Narhar. He defeated the army of Nawab Sadulla Khan on Saturday, aghan sudi 8 samvat 1787 (1730 AD).

According to the book ‘Rankeshari Jujhar Singh’, written by Kunwar Panne Singh, Jujhar Singh was appointed as Chieftain after holding a darbar. After the ‘tilak’ ceremony of appointment as a sardar or chieftain, the Rajputs could not digest it and with conspiracy killed Jujhar Singh in 1730 AD at a lonely place. Jujhar Singh thus became a martyr for his community. The town Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan was named so after the memory of Jujhar Singh or Jhunjha.
