Chronology of Indian History --Newer discussions

Dhanyawaad romar sahab link ke liye!

Koi dikkat nahin mitra. Ravi Chaudhary ki baat kaafi hadh tak sach hoti deekh rahi hai. Puraani kitabon se copy paste pure joron se chal raha hai. Ummid yeh hai ki sab lok dekh sakte hain ki yeh copy paste bekaar hai.

Kuch aur tathya dhyan dene ke liye:

Rigved mein Saraswati nadi bina tute hue samudra tak pahunchti hai. Uske baad ke granthon mein is nadi ka vibhinn jagahon per tootne ka vivaran hai. Jo duniya "copy paste" mein ji rahi unhe thoda parisharam karna padega apne ko naye shodh se avagat karane ke liye. Falane ne kaha ki Mahabharat 1000 BC mein rachi gayi aur dikhade ne kaha ki Rigved falani tarikh ko likha gaya ek ghisi piti gaadi khenchne ke saman hai. Jyada door chalne gi nahi.

A Word of Explanation and an Appeal:

I do not claim this is my original research . Rather, it is the research done by noted scholars of the field. The purpose of the thread is to ignite curiosity of the young scholars about the need of research in the History of the Jats as they would realise after going through the posts that much effort is needed to study the past afresh. It may rightly be called 'copy paste or edited' research findings from here and there. But, what matters in these kinds of posts is that they carry latest information with sources quoted, which is the need of time to keep the readers updated.

Whether these posts are worth reading or not is up to the liking and disliking of the readers' choice but their worth cannot be undermined in the emerging knowledge society !!!

Since, the chronology of Ten Kings Battle [Dasrajan yudha] has been arrived at long ago, there is no fun in clinging on this thread as no useful contributions were coming to disprove the findings arrived at so to discuss the chronology of the Mahabharata battle new thread has been started :

[h=1]In Quest of Chronology of Epic Mahabharata and Bharata Battle[/h]
It is open invitation and appeal to all those readers, who are interested in study of Ancient Indian History afresh to shun pre-conceived views, join discussion with open mind and to contribute objective posts supported by sources or relevant comments on the posted views, not the persons, to make the discussion more relevant to understand the Jat History in general and proto-history of India in particular.

Thanks.

Kisi bhi shodh ke liye yeh anivarya hai ki log sach bole aur jo kahen use kare.

Aaj tak sab intjaar mein hi baithe hain.

Ab aap ek naye thread ke gun gaan kar rahe hain aur yahan jo likha gaya use bekaar thera rahe hain. Itna hi nahi aap is baat se bhaag rahe hain jo aapko prastut karna thha.

Isse kya saabit hota hai? Yeh ho sakta hai ki aap Swami Dayanand dwara krit lekh yahan prastut nahi karna chhahate hain. Kaaran? Sirf aap jaante hain! Lekin pathak gan ise daal mein kuch kaala maanenge.

Ab aap Mahabharata ka raag alaap rahe hain Rigved mein kya likha aap ki samajh mein nahi aaya ya aap samajhna chahate nahin hain. Yeh kis prakar ka shodh hai?

Friend,

I had bid 'Adieu' from this thread but to put the record in right perspective, I take the opportunity to submit for your kind consideration and necessary action as under:

Reply to your query regarding the meaning given by Swami Dayananda Saraswati was supplied by Prashant Vaidvan, that is why I did not paste the copy of the extract. If you are really interested in knowing what Swami ji has written, you can easily go through it. For your ready reference it is reproduced below;

http://www.vedicgranth.org/what_are_vedic_granth/the-four-veda/rig-ved
On this web page, there are many PDFs regarding rigvedas (translated)..so here we can get some help..
In PDF RigVeda-Hindi-SoamiDivyanand.pdf ( please download from above given link) at page no. 544 (mandal 6, sukta 61. mantra 1)..first mantra is the translation of above mantra.. RISHI is Bhardwaaz and DEVTA is written as Saraswati.... Am i reading the translation of mantra under dsicussion?
.................

If you have seen it, then your tirade against me, is ill-founded, baseless and without any reason or rhyme.

If you see the heading of the thread ''Chronology of Indian History--A newer discussion" how do you mix up the question of Saraswati to be proved or not. Moreover, I have nowhere denied the existence of Saraswati Rivers or as a Vedic goddess of knowledge and affluence.

You are free to challenge the Chronology of the last Devasura Yudha, if you have alternate material/sources/ studies to prove the following conclusion wrong:

Continuing his study on ……………To sum up the gist of his finding is:

We thus get two cross contacts in Indian protohistory:

Ashoka and Antiok, the yona raja in c. 257 B.C.

Divodasa of Helmund, Indatu of Ur, Hashrava of North Iran and Emissum of Larsa provide cross contacts in c.2000--1970 B.C.

The chronological infrastructure of the protohistoric India should satisfy these two fixed points.............

As regards my starting of the Mahabharata related new thread, it is necessary to find out chronology of this event of historic dimensions and taking this cross contact found in the present discussion, hopefully solve many a problem of Proto History of India. So it is not running away from this thread but fully justified to discuss a new issue under a new thread.

Hope this satisfies all your inquiries. Kindly write whether you accept this date and cross link provided or not? If yes, accept it gracefully and join discussion on other issues of your choice;

if not, please give reasons thereof supported by evidence but, kindly put a stop to blowing hot and cold.

Thanks and cheers.

Aap kamaal kar rahe hain. Apne jawaab me Trutiyan dekhna shuru kijiye: Pehli aap Swami Dayananda ka naam vyarth istemaal kar rahe hain.

Isme दिवोदासं aur unke pita वध्र्यश्वाय ka naam har koi padh sakta hai. Kya aap ke padhne main nahi aaye?

Ab aap Divyanand ji (naa ki Swami Dayanand) ke shloka ka anuvaad dekhiye:

Isme kahin aapko Divodas ye unke pita वध्र्यश्वाय ka naam dikhai de raha hai? Mujhe to nahi de raha. Ab aap is 6.61.1 shloka ki tulna Sanskrit ke professor Horace Wilson ke anuvaad se kijiye:

"She gave to the donor of the oblations, Vadhryaswa, a son. DivodasA 1 endowed with speed, and acquitting the debt (due to gods and progenitors); she who destroyed the churlish niggard, (thinking) only of himself:' 2 such are thy great bounties, Sara- swati"

Isse kya nishkarsh nikalta hai? Yahi ki ek to aap Swami Dayanand ke naam ko badnaam kar rahe hain ek galat anuvaad unke sir madh kar.

Doosra ek shodh shastri jo sanskrit nahi jaanta hai uske liye yeh ati aavashyak hai ki veh ek nahi kai anuvad padhe aur uske baad apni baat kahe. Pranatu aapne copy paste ki jaldi main ek katai bekaar anuvad ko sarvopari maan liya. Iska kaaran seedha hai ki aap khule dimaag se is vartalap mein nahi hain. Rigved jo ki jad hai usme diye gaye tathya aapki theory ki aryan log bhar se aaye thhe uska spasht khandan karti hai.

If you have seen it, then your tirade against me, is ill-founded, baseless and without any reason or rhyme.
Kya aap ab bhi apni is baat ko sach maante hain?

Friend,

Yes I do. I still stick to follow the translation done by Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the founder of the Arya Samaj, and am going to post the relevant translation and proof that it was done by him separately.

Kindly note that what I have written/posted is hundred per cent right and nothing has been fabricated or twisted in it. There is no question of misusing the name of revered Swamiji, whom I hold in great esteem as a scholar and social reformer. So none can tarnish the fair name of the Swamiji.

Please, please, do not behave in a rash manner and also desist from pointing accusing figures towards anyone without giving opportunity to explain other party to explain his point of view.

Yes we can differ on the issue of discussion but no mud slinging please.

Thanks.

Neeraj Chahar,

While thanking you for your generous comments, I would like to submit my views on the issue by saying that the Rigvedic 'SARSAWATI' is a much debated word and several meanings have been given by the commentators over the years.

So far as translations provided by T Griffith above, it clearly shows that the hymn [6.61.1] is addressed to the goddess [DEVI] Saraswati and not to river Saraswati as is being interpreted by some people. By performing Puja of a Devi and begetting boon does not mean that the incident occurred at some specific place till other corroboratory evidence is not provided. Here, an attempt is being made, out of nowhere without any evidence to support, that such and such person worshiped a certain river in India and rest of the evidence supplied from Archaeology and literary sources has no value for them. To say the least, this is an attempt to 'INVENT HISTORY' not to reconstruct history.

Further, there are at least three Devis or goddesses which have been identified as Saraswati, one in India, other in Iran and one more in Greece. Saraswati and her two consorts Illa and Mahi have been invoked several times in the Rig Veda.

The same meaning is conveyed by Aurbindo Ghosh in his study of the Vedas. Shri Ghosh in his book 'The Secret of the Veda' [1972, Pondichery] in chapter IX: 'Saraswati and His Consorts' pp.86-94.

Thanks.

Wikipedia provides us the info: See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divodasa

Divodāsa ("heaven's servant") is a name of a tribal king in the Rigveda (celebrated for his liberality and protected by Indra and the Ashvins in the Rigveda, RV 1.112.14; 1.116.18), the son of Vadhryashva RV 6.61.5. He is the father of the famous Sudas (RV 7.18.28) (of the Battle of the Ten Kings).

It is also the name of a king of Kashi surnamed Dhanvantari as per the hymn (RV 10.179.2). The founder of the Indian school of medicine called Ayurveda.[Singh, Rana P.B.; Pravin S. Rana (2002). Banaras Region: A Spiritual and Cultural Guide. Varanasi: Indica Books. p. 31. ISBN 81-86569-24-3.]

See at - http://www.indianetzone.com/31/divodasa_king_kasi.htm

According to the Rig Veda, Divodasa is a king, who coveted one of the hundred impregnable cities of the black-skinned Sambara. It is said that Indra hurled Sambara from the mountain and he destroyed ninetynine cities and gave the hundredth to Divodasa.

Again, Divodasa is the name of a king of Kasi (Benaras), who was the son of Bhimaratha. There are some curious legends related with this prince. It is said that Shiva and Parvati desired to occupy Kasi, which Divodasa possessed. So, they sent a teacher named Nikumbha to lead the prince to the adoption of Buddhist doctrines. As a result, Divodasa was expelled from the sacred city and rounded another on the banks of the Gomti. But, as per another legend, Divodasa took a city on that river from the family Bhadrasrenya.

Now see Dovodasa on Jatland Wiki: http://www.jatland.com/home/Divodasa

Ancestry of Divodasa

Pururava → Ayu → Kshatra Vriddha → Suhotra → Kasya → Kasi → Rashtra → Dirghatama → Dhanvantari → Ketumat → Bhimaratha → Divodasa → Dyumat (Also called Pratardana Satrujit and Ritadgvaja) → Alarka + Others

Bhim Singh Dahiya mentions [Wiki]Divodasa[/Wiki] in the list of Manda Kings. {[Wiki]Jats the Ancient Rulers (A clan study)/The Mandas[/Wiki],p.135}

So Divodasa is relevant for Jat history !!!

This post must sufficiently satisfy the detractors' curiosity. Those who are interested to pursue further research must read the book referred to above page 584-585 in which all the 14 Mantaras dedicated to Saraswati have been given in Skt. then translated into Hindi and SwamiJi's comments appended with all the fourteen hymns.

Perhaps, this is sufficient to prove that I have quoted Swami Dayanand Sarswati in true spirit and letter. Those who attribute 'motives' must be forgiven by God for their ignorance of the rules and methods of scholarly research methodology !

May goddess Saraswati bestow upon all of us her boon of knowledge and forbearance !!

OM, TAT, SAT, SHANTI, SHANTI !!!

Jo aapne upload kiya hai veh shloka 6.61.1 nahi hai. Kripa kar ke sahi shloka ka anuvad upload kijiye. Aur jo aap upload kar rahe hain veh sahi tarah padhne main nahi aa raha hai. Aap phir kamaal kar rahe hain. 6.61.1 se agla shloka hai 6.61.2 aur iska anuvad hai:

Anuvaad:

She with her might, like one who digs for lotus-stems, hath burst with her strong waves the ridges of the hills.
Let us invite with songs and holy hymns for help Sarasvati who slayeth the Paravatas.

Kripa kar he thoda addhyan kijiye. 6.61 ke saare shlok saraswati nadi ke upar hain.

6.61.8

Anuvad:Yea, she most dear amid dear stream, Seven-sistered, graciously inclined,
Sarasvati hath earned our praise.

6.61.12

</pre>Anuvad: Seven-sistered, sprung from threefold source, the Five Tribes' prosperer, she must be
Invoked in every deed of might.

6.61.13

Marked out by majesty among the Mighty Ones, in glory swifter than the other rapid Streams,
Created vast for victory like a chariot, Sarasvati must be extolled by every sage.

Jo koi yeh kaha raha hai ki 6.61 ke shloka Saraswati nadi ke baare mein nahi hain
unhe yeh nahi pata ki wo kya kah rahe hain. Thoda adhyan ki sakth avashyakta hai.

If you are bent upon not accepting it as RV.6.61.1 and translation and interpretation by Swami Dayanand Saraswati, go and compare the same with the original book quoted earlier and prove your point. Enough is enough.

Learn to do something on your own also instead of directing me to do this or that for you.

Thanks.

6.61.12

Anuvad: Seven-sistered, sprung from threefold source, the Five Tribes' prosperer, she must be
Invoked in every deed of might.

{Swami Dayanand Sarsawati and Aurbindo Ghosh have intercepted it the way noted earlier and they are no more to pay attention to your piece of advice. None can send your message to them so kindly bear with the philosophical point of view translation and comments they have made.}

Yes, Now you have picked up the right path and need to understand all the references to rivers, persons--Royals and Rishis--Tribes and places etc. etc. in proper perspective. This will broaden your vision to understand about the original home of the Aryans and their movements in their earlier days from Punjab to Caspean sea region i.e. Central India.

......''To sum up the gist of his finding is :

We thus get two cross contacts in Indian proto-history:

Ashoka and Antiok, the yona raja in c. 257 B.C.

Divodasa of Helmund, Indatu of Ur, Hashrava of North Iran and Emissum of Larsa provide cross contacts in c.2000--1970 B.C.

The chronological infrastructure of the protohistoric India should satisfy these two fixed points."

That was what I had so far been trying to bring to the knowledge of the participants in the discussion of the subject of the thread about the original home of Aryans and chronology of Indian history. This stand taken by me stands proved now. You also have come to realize the importance of the River Saraswati. The Saraswati mentioned by the older Rishis is, indisputably located in Iran where for a considerable time the Aryans lived in the yore.

The other Saraswati flowed from the Himalayas with abundance of water in the past but dried up later on due to geological disruptions and at present has become a rivulet emerging from Adi Badari 35 kilometers from Yamunanagar.

The historicity of Rigveda can be understood in proper perspective if the realistic locale and time of the composition is kept in mind. With the help of Royal Dynastic List comparing with Rishis' dynastic list and also using other scientific research tools, S.B Ray has succeeded in establishing cross contact of Divodasa with other contemporary kings as c. 2000- 1970 B.C. and the date by which the last battle known as Das-rajan Yudha was over comes to c.1900 BC. This date arrived at with reasoned facts and must be gracefully accepted by all concerned, at least till the time, contrary is proved by producing stronger sources/data.
c.2000-1970 B.C. and the date by which the last battle known as Das-rajan Yudha was over comes to c. 1900 BC.
Thanks.
