Bhaai Yudhvir, issue is not what are the problems in India. problems are thousands may be millions.. but how can one justify the racial (or not) attacks on Indians. This is a lame excuse that "this" happens in India also, hence it okay for some ppl in Australia to bash Indians.
Yudhvir, if an international student go for studies in any country ('India' included).. it is the moral/legal/ethical repsonsibility of that country to provide the security to that individual. PERIOD. These students who are getting battered are not illegal immigrants.. they have not 'sneaked' into Australia. If oz govt felt otherwise, it could have easily denied them visa. These students pay for their studies [which is the third largest revenue or something for oz govt.] and they have every right to ask protection.
I believe Australian Govt is doing everything in their capacity to stop these attacks. They are launching campaigns. Believe me, Any form of racism is not tolerated in developed world.. They deal with these things with priority.. They arrest culprits and you can get update about any case on any of the Police websites.
Can I get this information about Thackrey who is opening saying that they won't allow Aussie players to play in Mumbai. Is Govt taking any action against him.. Forget Action, Does Govt has guts to condemn Thackrey.??
May be media is over hyping.. but then almost every week new incidents are coming up.. giving media fresh fuel!!
Please just go back in your college life, How many times you have seen guys fighting in your college, may be once in a week.. Do you remember a single instance where localides kicked some outsided and you have seen Barkha Datt talking about that.. NO
In many cases, Victim and accused are known to each other, They had party together and it ended up with racial abuse WTF??
We are trying to preach human rights and values to somebody after knowing that we don't even have idea about these words. Why people are not asking Govt to build world class universities so that people come to India to study..
We won't ask and if we ask also, our govt won't do it because its bloody tough to cut through the layers of bureaucracy.
Yes, you are right Saudi govt. treats Indians, Pakistani ,Srilanakan very badly. South Asians are more like third class citizens there. Media do cover many such incidents (thats why u and me know this). and even Indian govt raised this issue also (may be u didn't read those articles).
Anyways, as far as i have read, in middle-eastern countries the problems south Asians are facing a little bit different. They work long hours, they live in shared rooms and live in pathetic conditions, they have to follow (unneccessarily) Islamic rules, almost all of these ppl are
contract laborers (sent by immigration syndicates).. [Nobody goes to middle eat for studies

] Yes, u r right they live in far worse situations in Middle. i know a few ppl in my village who had gone to middle east and
earned money.
But that is the point: these ppl know what is in 'store' for them and they embrace it happily for better money!!
These people CHOOSE to live as 'lepers'. There is hardly anything that govt can do in such cases!
They are NOT being bashed in street.. no body gate-crash their private party and drive screw driver through their head.
I mean .. come on when was the last u heard that some Indians were bashed on the streets in Saudi Arab or Dubai?? (from Oz land "Indian bashed...." incidents have become a regular weekly column)
Yes, Govt doesn't has guts to spit against Middle eastern countries because they think it may affect their vote bank. It does happen at worksites, poor labourers died due to negligence, excessive heat at workplace.
(P.S. It is not like that media publishes report only on the attack on Indians in Oz., one foreigner girl Scarlet was found to dead in Goa and that news went for like weeks on the front page of all newspapers. Reporting sensational and 'easy to understand' news is what pleases the masses and swells the RTPs; nobody but 'investors' watch serious business news... I dozs-off within seconds if anything 'serious' is flashed on tv

)
